With fond early memories of his elders smoking pipes, a young Master VanWinkle began his relationship with the luxury tobacco culture by first enjoying cigars in his early 20’s. The transcendent qualities of pipe smoking reveled themselves in 1994 during a camping expedition thus launching Mr. VanWinkle into collecting briar pipes in earnest and paving the way for a fabulous obsession. Years later, much to his delight, Mr. VanWinkle found himself actualizing the goal of working directly in the luxury tobacco industry for the oldest tobacconist in the United States located in Chicago, Illinois. To present day, Mr. VanWinkle continues to enjoy a symbiotic relationship with his cigars and love of fine briar pipes. With over 30 years of collecting experience coupled with his years of working knowledge in the industry, Mr. VanWinkle’s trajectory within the hobby has culminated into a model for tobicciana collection curation and estate management which he is pleased to now formally offer as a service to his clients.
